North Fylde Model Railway Club:
Like many other clubs, North Fylde has, in its
fairly short life, been here, there and everywhere but at last it has
settled in a fairly
spacious building at Carleton where it meets regularly on Monday nights
from 7.30 pm to 10pm. The club rooms afford space for some
private projects but it is mainly used for club layouts.
Rents have to be paid and materials purchased so the club costs £100 a
year to join with payments staggered to meet individual’s
pockets. At the cost of a pint or two it presents good value for anyone
who wants to develop or learn talents, enjoy train-talk, a laugh
and afterwards, for some, a pint.
There are a wide variety of talents held by members with experts in
woodwork, wiring, track laying, scenics etc. Most members buy
‘off the shelf’ locos & rolling stock but some have impressed us with
their skills at loco building.
The club has a periodic magazine in which any members can put articles,
has one or two social functions and has three weekends when
they exhibit their layouts in Fleetwood. These are normally held in
January/February, July & September.
Jan/Feb & July “Mini-Exhibitions”
are held at
Milton Youth & Community Centre,
Milton Street, Fleetwood where we usually
have at least 7 or 8 club or locally invited layouts together with trade
stands, static displays and our own club sales stand.
Our main
Annual Exhibition in September
is held at the
Marine Hall, Fleetwood.
Please see press for further details on opening
times etc.
The North Fylde MRC has a collection of over 20 layouts in various
gauges from N to G, most of which are available for other
exhibitions and charity events. If you would like further details about
the club or our layouts, please contact our secretary:
